Help is at hand for pupils who “get lost in the crowd”
"Teachers are fighting a losing Battle in the classroom!" Says Dr. Johan Meyer & Gwen. Mckechnie of the Kip McGrath Education Centre in Boksburg. With up to 40 children in a class it is unfair to expect teachers to give individual attention to struggling children. As a result, up to 40% of school children "get lost in the crowd".
The Kip McGrath Education Centre’s individualized tutoring system is designed to help children who are struggling with Reading, Spelling, English, Mathematics, Maths Literacy and Afrikaans. Every child is tested free of charge to determine the cause of the backlog, which will spiral out of control if not addressed promptly. A personal remedial program is designed to correct the specific problems being experienced and also make up the backlog.
The Kip McGrath system is a "back to basics" approach with individualized attention and personal care. Computers and audio cassettes are used to make learning easier for children who struggle to concentrate. Although the program requires perseverance and dedication from all parties involved, Dr. Johan Meyer and Gwen Mckechnie are convinced that the program will bring peace of mind to many concerned parents even during tough economic times. Parents who bring their children to the Kip McGrath Centre are grateful to have found someone who can assist in correcting their child’s problems by addressing the cause rather than the symptoms.
